How does Resurfx work?
Resurfx creates micro heat injuries in the skin stimulating the body’s wound healing process, which includes the production of new collagen to help firm and smooth the skin.
How many treatments are needed?
Typically, 3-6 sessions are needed. How many sessions you’ll need will depend on your individual skin concerns and severity of any scarring. Treatment sessions are spaced one month apart. The results are cumulative and will continue the collagen production process for 6 months after your last treatment.
What does Resurfx feel like?
Resurfx creates a hot prickly sensation on the skin. We use topical anesthetic to numb the skin prior to treatment as well as nitrous (laughing gas) throughout the procedure.
Can Resurfx be combined with other procedures?
Yes, we commonly combine Resurfx with an IPL photofacial. When performed together this is referred to as a photofractional treatment. The benefit of doing a photofractional treatment is treating pigment, vascular and textural irregularities all in one appointment.
What is the downtime for a Resurfx treatment?
The treated areas will be red, resembling a sunburn for a few days. A bronzed appearance will appear within the first few days after treatment, along with some discreate dry flaking. There may be some swelling and itching, the severity and duration of this will depend on the intensity of the treatment. The application of cooling and anti-inflammatory creams helps to reduce swelling and itching. Plan on 3-5 days of social downtime. Mineral makeup may be applied to the skin 48 hours after treatment.
