SKIN RESURFACING

CO2 FRACTIONAL LASER

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing can erase year from your face and improve the appearance of wrinkles and pigment*, but it is not a lunch time peel. CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing uses small columns of fractionated energy to ablate the areas of damaged skin. Tiny wounds are made and the surrounding healthy skin helps with healing, making new collagen and elastin. By Targeting zones deep in the skin as opposed to the entire skin surface, fractional CO2 resurfacing is a one time treatment performed with local anesthetic. It offers mild improvement in wrinkles, discoloration and scarring by stimulating collagen production. Skin tightening is also a result*.

DERMABRASION

Dermabrasion is a surgical method of manually resurfacing the skin. A fine grinder is used to “sand” wrinkles, lines and scars flush with the surrounding skin. Dermabrasion can improve your imperfections*. Dermabrasion can help create a smoother more youthful appearance, by treating fine lines and wrinkles around the lips, mouth and almost anywhere in the face*. Dermabrasion is excellent for improving moderate to severe acne scarring*. In many cases the procedure can be performed in the office with local anesthesia.

Bleeding to a minor degree occurs in all. Infections and cold sores can occur. Bruising can happen from the injection of local anesthesia.  There is a prolonged redness that can last for a few months in some people. Brown spots (hyperpigmentation) may appear, and happens more in patients with more pigment in the skin. A decrease in the skins pigment may occur (hypopigmentation) and may be the most problematic long term effect but is usually covered easily by makeup.
