PHOTOFACIAL

Photofacials are treatments that use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to correct discoloration of the skin, making this treatment excellent for evening the skin tone*. The IPL laser specifically targets red and brown pigmentation in the skin. Photofacials are commonly preformed on the face, neck, decollete, and back of the hands but can be preformed anywhere on the body.
Photofacials can be combined with other treatments such as Chemical Peels, Microneedling, E-matrix sublative rejuvenation, and skin care products for best results. A treatment plan can be discussed with the laser technician.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends greatly on the individual and weather the issue is a pigment or vascular one. Many times a very noticeable difference can be seen after one treatment. Multiple treatments (3-5) may be needed for optimal results. If multiple treatments are needed they can be done monthly. Maintenance treatments may be needed over time.
How long does a treatment take?
In most cases a full face takes about an hour.
Is it painful?
There is discomfort associated with the treatment. In some cases a topical anesthetic can be applied to help ease pain. The technician will try to make the treatment as tolerable as possible. The results are well worth an hour of discomfort!
What can I expect after the treatment?
The patient will be red and experience a sunburn like sensation for the next few hours. Any brown spots the patient has will look immediately darker and become even darker over the next day or two. Most of the redness will subside in less than 24 hours of the treatment*. The patient will experience micro-crusting and possibly mild superficial blistering. In 3 to 4 days after the treatment the dark brown will start to flake off. By 7 to 10 days after the treatment the skin will be done flaking and a more even toned, brighter complexion can be noticed. Make-up can be applied immediately following the treatment unless otherwise instructed. All post treatment instruction will be discussed with the laser technician before the patient leaves.
